Please... anyone here knows if 98 and 99 tigras (the years brazilian GM imported them) are ALDL ou OBD2?
If it's OBD2, what protocol? ISO (probably), VPW, PWM?
If ALDL, any software to read it? any datastream definition?
Any hardware interfaces for ALDL or ODB2?

Wenn ALDL, irgendeine Software, zum es zu lesen? irgendeine datastream Definition? Irgendwelche Kleinteilschnittstellen für ALDL oder ODB2?

I dont know what kind of protokoll to use, but i can guarantee u, that a tigra from 98/99 isnt an Onboard Diagnostic System... Obd was Build in 2001 so u cant use it...Uve got a System u can read with a Computer called Tech 1 and Tech 2 by GM !Thats what i can say about it,but u havent got OBD in that Tigra ;-) Theres a way to read the codes in the Errorcache by using the Triple Info Display...But i never checked that ;-)

if u take your car to some garage, there's a lot of "generic" tools capable of reading the live data from ECU
I've seen it personaly
Tech 1,2 and even 3 (the latest) ateh the GM (opel/vauxhall) official tool, but there's a lot others capable of readin tigras, corsas and so

The error code reading is the paper clip or 10k resistor trick
it flashes the ignition light in some paterns describing the errors
Never ever heard about something like that on TID

But the question stills...
Any glues on how to read the data on a 98/99 tigra from it's diagnostic conector (16pin)?
OBD or ALDL (probably this last one)?

as far as i know the tigra has an "incomplete" obd1-bus. that means it supports only basic functionality of an obd1 bus and has a proprietary protocol.

i know there was a project online some time ago that was trying to decrypt the data provided by that interface. i think they programmed a tool for pc's to display that data in a proper way.

unfortunately i wasn't able to find any information regarding the obd1-interface. most information provided here are regarding to obd2-interface (which is partly used by newer models manufactured 2001 and later, but NOT by tigras with motors x14xe and x16xe)

It's a shame...
Ours down here in Brasil aren't OBD2 too, but our motors are C16SEL
If I were able to catch any info from the car diagnostic connector, then I have a great chance of decoding it
