Can anyone tell me if it's safe to remove the center silencer from the exhaustsystem and replace it by a straight pipe ?
The sound just isn't loud enough....

Depends where you are from.
Most countries use to give a maximum level of loudness to vehicles that shouldn't be extended as for sure you don't want trouble with your local authorities, do you?

Save by the means of running the car? Yeah. Why shouldn't it? Its just a silencer-you are good to go as long as your not breaking any law in your country by removing it.
